IRELAND has seen its first death from Covid 19 this afternoon.
The elderly woman who contracted the virus died in a hospital in the east of the country.
It is believed she contracted the virus through community contact and she had presented with respiratory symptoms.
She is understood to have had underlying illness. She had been very ill for days but sadly now has passed away.
