A new Limerick Tourism Taskforceย has been establishedย to provide a co-ordinated response to the current challenges faced by the tourism industry as well as longer term planning for enhancing tourism development in Limerick.ย
The taskforce comprisesย ofย theย tourism industry representative groupsย ofย Limerick City Wild Atlantic Way Gateway Group, Ballyhouraย Fรกilteย and West Limerick Tourism,ย as well asย Limerick City and County Council,ย Fรกilteย Ireland and the local development companies Ballyhoura Development and West Limerick Resources.ย
It will act as aย single unified voice for the tourism industry in Limerick,ย monitor,ย review and assist in theย implementation of existing tourism strategies adopted by the taskforce membersย andย develop and promote collaboration between local stakeholders across the tourism sectorย includingย theย cross-sellingย of products.ย
The newย taskforce will further develop and enhance collaboration with tourism stakeholders to promote Limerick as a destination to both domestic and international tourism ensuringย that all the key agenciesย are representedย and working together to positively promote Limerick as a destination and supportingย the sector.ย
The establishment of the Tourism Taskforce, whichย will be ledย by the tourism industry, will also assist with implementingย ofย short to medium term priorities as the tourism sector aims to minimise the impact from the ongoing global pandemic.ย
Theย Limerick Tourism Taskforceย will be co-chairedย byย Denise Brazilย from The Bedford Townhouse and Cafe on Bedford Row, Limerick andย Johnย Fitzgerald from The Kennedy Rooms in Bruff.ย
Denise Brazilย said:ย โThe Limerick Tourism Taskforce is a much needed representative body for Limerick Tourism across both city and county. In driving stronger communication and collaboration between the individual stakeholder tourism groups already in place, we can ensure that Limerick as a tourism destination is not only better connected and but has one voice.โย
Gordon Daly, Director of Community Development with Limerick City and County Councilย added: โCollaboration and partnership within the tourism industryย and with key agencies such as Fรกilte Ireland and the Council have never been more important.ย The establishment of the new Limerick Tourism Taskforce is a welcome development and will be strongly supported by Limerick Cityย andย County Council.โย
