LABOUR Party Councillor Elena Secas has welcomed the allocation of €200,000 for work on the Mountshannon Road in Lisnagry under the Climate Change Adaptation Scheme.

The money will go towards placement of pipelines to ensure continuity of the natural drainage systems within and off the road.

“Flooding has been a huge issue on this road and even though the road has been recently resurfaced after each heavy rain people are just forced to walk in the middle of the road because of flooding along the side”, Cllr Secas said.

“There are pools of water along the roadway, and the situation is very dangerous. This funding is very timely,” she added.
