Amy to light up Limerick this Christmas

Amy Mulcachy and Baz Ashmawy

AMY Mulcachy, who survived against all the odds after becoming trapped when her rowboat capsized, is to light up Limerick this Christmas. The Annacotty teenager has been invited to take part in the turning on of the Christmas lights via a video link this year.

Amy’s life hung in the balance after her hair became entangled in the boat and she was submerged in the river for nearly ten minutes. But she fought back and is on the road to recovery.
She featured in the first programme of the DIY SOS television series in which presenter Baz Ashmawy and a team of volunteers gave her home a massive makeover to make it easier for Amy to get around in her wheelchair and gain independence.
