RACING returned to Limerick on St Stephen’s Day behind closed doors with seven races on the card for Saturday.

In the day’s opening race, the 100/1 Awkwafina just pipped Palm Beach in the 12.15 Geary`s Garage Kilmeedy 3-Y-O Maiden Hurdle.

Diol Ker under MJ Stenson took the Signsplus Hurdle at 12.45 beating Born by the Sea by a neck.

JP McManus got his first win of the day as Shadow Rider took the Eden Capitol Hurdle by 8 lengths.

Kevin Brouder rode Minx Tiara to success in the 13.50 O’Kelly Brothers Demolition Mares Handicap Hurdle with 11 lengths to spare ahead of No Memory.

Willie Mullins won out the Grade 1 Matchbook Betting Exchange Faugheen Novice Steeplechase as Coolreevy beat Pencilfulloflead by half a length in the day’s big race.

Chalky White under Brian Hayes took the 15.00 Mr Binman Handicap Steeplechase by 4 lengths ahead of Damut.

It’sallabouteve was successful in the Parkway Shopping Centre Mares Flat Race at 15.45 under William Cronin.
