Gearoid Hegarty named as PwC GAA/GPA Hurler of the Month for his All-Ireland final display

UNSURPRISINGLY, Gearoid Hegarty has been named as the PwC GAA/GPA Hurler of the Month – Finals Award.

Hegarty beat teammates Tom Morrissey and Kyle Hayes to the award after scoring 0-7 from play in Limerick’s All-Ireland final win on December 13.

The St Patricks man is also the heavy favourite to claim this year’s Hurler of the Year award after grabbing a staggering 0-20 from play in this year’s All-Ireland championship.

While Hegarty’s selection comes as no surprise, he was made to work for the award with Morrissey contributing 0-5 and adding a number of assists with Hayes a powerhouse at wing back in the decider.

Speaking after earning the award, Hegarty spoke about the importance of the Fitzgibbon Cup, Senior Footballers and backroom team in his development.

He also discussed the differences between the 2018 and 2020 success as well as the bond in the squad.
