LIMERICK duo Sarah Lavin and Ciara Neville will both take part at the European Indoor Athletics Championship this weekend in Turan.

They are part of a 24 strong Irish team with the championships kicking off today live on BBC 2 from 9am.

Lavin and Neville, of the Emerald AC club, are both trained by Noelle Morrissey.

Lavin has been in scintillating form this season, beating her PB on a number of occasions including twice in Madrid last week.

She qualified for the championships for the first time after she finished third with a time of 8.18 in the World Silver Series Meet in Ostrava last month.

She will compete in the 60m hurdles on Saturday morning from 10.30am.

Her clubmate Neville has had a more stinted lead up to the championships as she suffered an injury in February. However, she did break her PB in January in Vienna in her first race in almost a year, clocking a time of 7.30 in the 60m sprint.

That was enough for qualification to Turan.

This will be her second European Indoor Championships after she represented Ireland as a 17-year old four years ago in Belgrade.

She will have her heat on Sunday morning from 9.20am on Sunday.
