March 10
On this day three years ago, the Limerick footballers had a one point win over Waterford in the National Football League. Five years previously, both intercounty sides dispatched Carlow in a Gaelic Grounds double while there was also a win for the footballers in 2012 over Kilkenny.
2018
Limerick picked up a first win of the season as theyย defeated Waterford by 2-10 to 2-9 in Round 5 of the Allianz Football League Division 4.
Limerickโs start was direct and proved dividends with Seamus OโCarroll opening the scoring before setting up Jamie Lee for the games first goal.
Waterford replied with a point but scores from OโCarroll and Robbie Bourke had Limerick six clear.
The sides traded scores but slowly Waterford began to take control and were rewarded with a penalty, which Gavin Croty dispatched to leave it at 1-6 to 1-4 in Limerickโs favour at the interval.
Waterford did have the first score of the second half but Limerick replied with a pair to move three clear, a lead they maintained until the final quarter.
The Deise then struck 1-3 on the bounce to take the lead for the first time and went three in front heading into injury time.
But there was still time for Limerick to launch a comeback with OโCarroll bundling the ball home to level and Sean McSweeney nailing a free to give Limerick the win.

2013
Limerick held on for a 3-10 to 1-13 win over Carlow in the second round of the National Hurling League in the Gaelic Grounds.
Carlow had three of the first four scores with Seamus Hickey offering Limerickโs only resistance in the first ten minutes.
Their next score was a goal however, as Declan Hannonโs 21-yard free flew past the Carlow rearguard.
But the next four scores would come from the visitors as they moved 0-7 to 1-1 in front.
Hannon was on hand again to blast to goal to level the game after 25 and Seanie Tobin added another immediately afterwards as Limerick looked like taking control.
At the break it was 3-5 to 0-8 in Limerickโs favour and three in succession from Hannon early in the second half had them eight clear after Carlow opened the scoring.
But with six minutes remaining, 1-1 from Craig Doyle had the deficit back to a goal. And with Doyle clear through on goal he had the chance to level but couldnโt rise the ball as Limerick cleared the danger to hold on for the win.

On the same day, the footballers made it four from four in Division 4 with a 0-10 to 0-9 win over Carlow in the Gaelic Grounds.
Carlow struck twice inside the opening minute to open up an early advantage but with Ian Ryan unerring in front of goal, the hosts took the lead midway through the half.
Three on the bounce prior to the short whistle restored Carlowโs lead which was 0-7 to 0-5 at the half.
The visitors were able to maintain that two point advantage for the majority of the second half but in the end it was Ryan that proved the difference as he added three frees late on to snatch the result for Limerick.
In total the St Senans man contributed 0-7 of his sides tally as Limerick moved a step closer to promotion.
2012
Limerick kicked 31 scores to put Kilkenny to the sword, 1-30 to 0-1 in the fourth round of the National Football League.
The game was a complete mismatch from start to finish as Limerick cruised past their opponents.
Ian Ryan had the games only goal in the first half as Limerick kicked 15 points and held their opponents scoreless.
Both John Galvin and Stephen Kelly made their returns to the side after injury lay-offs with Kelly kicking 0-6 from play.
In total, 1-25 of Limerickโs total came from play with Kilkennyโs only score of the game coming in the 60th minute.
Nonetheless, it was Limerickโs third win in four as they regrouped from the loss to Clare a week earlier.
