Upton scores again as Ireland and Great Britain play out a draw in final game of series

IRELAND and Great Britain played out a 1-1 draw in the final clash of their their three game series on Tuesday.

Britain won the opening tie of the series 2-1 on Saturday with Roisin Upton scoring from the penalty spot. Ireland got the upper hand on Sunday as Upton scored from the spot again in a 2-1 win.

On Wednesday in the deciding game, both sides were cautious in the first half with no clear cut chances for either team.

As she did in the first two games, Upton was on target for Ireland with ten minutes remaining, notching her third penalty strike of the series.

But with the Olympic champions chasing for an equalizer, they were rewarded with just four minutes to play as Izzy Petter finished clinically to level proceedings.

The sides meet next at the Tokyo Olympics on July 31.
