TRANSLIT, an Irish Language Solutions Provider who specialise in interpreting, has expanded their reach to Moscow in Russia, as they go from strength to strength in 2021.
TRANSLIT CEO, Alex Chernenko, is delighted with the first quarter results after the successful launch of a new interpreting technology and subsequent addition of a London address.
Remote Simultaneous Interpretation (RSI) is the future of interpreting at live events, and following its January unveiling, TRANSLIT RSI is already well-established in that field.
The three-time All-Ireland Business All-Star award winners had bases in Limerick and Cork. And on back of the success of TRANSLIT RSI, Mr Chernenko decided to combat Brexit with a new location in Britain.
The Ukraine native, who moved to Limerick in 2003, believes a Russian presence is the next step to make TRANSLIT an interpreting leader in Europe before tackling North America later in the year.
“I am excited to open a subsidiary in Moscow. This will expand TRANSLIT RSI to CIS countries and beyond. Many Russian companies go to Europe. We are doing it the other way around,” said Mr Chernenko.
“Russia is one of very few countries where life continues, there are no lockdowns at the moment, conferences and offline events operate fully. With our remote interpreting technology we will be honoured to provide live interpreting to some of the biggest industry events there, that gather thousands of attendees and top speakers.
“We have a number of existing clients in Russia, and along with our remote staff who currently work in Moscow, we now have a tangible base for them.
“Things looked a lot different this time last year, when lockdown first set in, and the interpreting industry was in real trouble.
“TRANSLIT pivoted and launched two new divisions: TRANSLIT RSI and TRANSLIT Pro. And a new company in Russia will add value to our business and global expansion.”
Last year, TRANSLIT was forced to bounce back during the global pandemic, when their interpreting, translation and localisation services could have come under threat.
TRANSLIT Pro, the company’s own interpreter training division was set up, and later this month they will host a new interpreting conference, Interpreting Insights.
This event takes place virtually on 26 May and will focus on the future of interpreting ‘from local to global’.
“Offline events got stopped while onsite interpreting was halted in 2020. And we lost half of our businesses overnight,” said Mr Chernenko.
“Bookings got cancelled, jobs did not go ahead, interpreters were sent home. Instead of accepting the reality, we used it as an opportunity to try new things. The team came together, shared ideas and two new vectors were drawn out.
“TRANSLIT Pro was an experiment. We had fun organising events for our interpreters, cheering them up, helping them to overcome lockdown and loss of work. Very quickly this grew to over 1,600 students in less than six months.
“At TRANSLIT, we like to do things properly. We hired a certified interpreter and trainer, we applied for CPD accreditation for one of her courses, and just last week we got it.
“Now we will organise our own conference bringing in well-known speakers. We want to give interpreters the best experience to improve their skills. We are on a mission to make good interpreters great.
“TRANSLIT is on a journey to become the leading interpreting provider. We will continue improving our products and adding new technology.
“And all going well, after Russia, TRANSLIT will expand to the USA.”
