Limerick benefits from 90 additional places on Community Employment scheme

THE Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys TD, and Minister of State, Joe O’Brien TD, have announced over 2,600 additional places on Community Employment (CE) and Tús schemes nationwide. The additional places on the Community Employment and Tús schemes across the country is an excellent avenue to tackle unemployment according to Fine Gael Senator Maria Byrne.

Senator Maria Byrne says ‘‘Pathways to Work’ is all about giving people the tools and opportunities they need to secure employment. Our Community Employment and Tús schemes are central to that strategy – providing a vast range of work experience, skills development and mentoring for people who are long-term unemployed.”

Limerick has been allocated an additional 90 places in the Community Employment scheme; this will assist people who are out of work as well as enhancing local communities.

The community groups which have been allocated additional places are as follows below:
Ballyhoura Heritage & Environment, Ballyhoura Rural Services Company, Castleconnell Project Group, Croom Community Development Association, Fr Caseys Gaelic Football Club, Liberties Recycling Training & Development Clg, Limerick Youth Service, Moyross Community Enterprise Centre, Paul Partnership Limerick Clg Company, Southill Pathways To Employment Company, St Gabrials School & Centre Community Employment Scheme, St Marys Community Adult Education, St Munchins Community Centre Company, St Vincent Depaul Community Employment Scheme, Umbrella Project Scheme.

The additional places will be positive to the communities and allow individuals to develop on work experience and skills concluded Senator Byrne.
