SQUAD UPDATE | Munster’s Jason Jenkins suffers another debut delaying injury

THE South African second-row suffered a thigh injury just days after returning to full team training following a shoulder injury.

Jason Jenkins will have to wait a little longer to make his debut for Munster after he picked up a thigh injury just over a week after he returned to full team training following a shoulder injury.

Jenkins signed for Munster last March following his former Bulls teammate RG Snyman. Once Jenkins returned to full team training last week, forwards coach Graham Rowntree expressed his delight with the second row remarking he was “very impressed’.

Details regarding RG Snyman’s injury were released Monday, outlining that the world cup winner suffered a re-rupture of his ACL.

Prop James French suffered a rib injury in training during the week and is under the care of the Munster medical team for rehab, while fellow front-row Keynan Knox presented with a low-grade hip injury following last week’s win over Stormers which will be managed with the Munster medical department.

Scrum-half Rowan Osborne is currently following the graduated return to play protocols under the supervision of the Munster medical department following a concussion.

However, there is good news on the injury front as Prop Liam O’Connor returns to full team training following a neck injury and will be available for selection.

Players continuing rehab are Prop Roman Salanoa with a knee injury and centre Chris Farrell who is at the latter stages of an abdomen injury.

Munster will host Connacht in the first interprovincial clash of the URC season this Saturday October 16th, with kick-off at 7:35pm.
