8Radio.com returns to airwaves in Limerick

8RADIO.COM will return to the FM dial in Limerick from October 22 as part of their eighth Birthday celebrations.

The Dublin-based alternative music radio station will be ‘Playing the Music We Like’ for five three-day weekends from October 22 to November 21 in Limerick, Galway, Cork and Dublin, as well as continuing to broadcast online.

Listeners can expect birthday giveaways and special shows all in celebration of eight years of 8Radio.com

Over the last 18 months of global turmoil, 8Radio.com didn’t miss a beat and continued to broadcast online, seamlessly moving from one central Dublin studio to remote locations in attics and spare rooms across the country.

8Radio.com has since its launch been proud of the support that it has given artists who generally receive very little support by daytime radio in Ireland.

8Radio.com will play the same mix of quality Irish and international alternative music that it plays online and via its amartphone apps 24/7, but with the addition of 105.2FM in Dublin, 106.7FM in Cork, 87.9FM in Galway and 105.5FM in Limerick every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from October 22 for five weekends until November 21, returning for a further five weekends in Spring 2022.

8Radio.com http://8radio.com/ is the brainchild of Simon Maher, who is no stranger to the Irish radio industry. Apart from his day job as a Lecturer in Media and Broadcasting at Ballyfermot College of Further Education, Simon was one of the founders and the public face of Phantom FM from its pirate roots in 1998 until its takeover in 2011. Simon is also a regular contributor to arts and current affairs programmes on both RTÉ Radio 1 and 2FM.

He said: “The last 18 months has been a struggle at 8Radio.com, just as it has been for so many businesses in the music space. We’re delighted to have made it through this challenging period and now we’re looking forward to getting to celebrate eight years of making Indie radio and planning for the future. The technology and the media environment may have changed dramatically in the eight years since 8Radio.com launched, but the buzz of getting to introduce a great new track to an interested audience is still the same. Everyone at 8Radio.com puts in the hard work because they believe in what the radio station is about and it’s a privilege to be part of that.”
