THERE may not be a Bank Holiday to cheer us up this weekend but we do get to grab another hour of sleep as the hands of the clock go back to mark official Daylight Saving Time. The time change officially happens at 2am, tonight, October 31. The summer and winter changes were set to be scrapped from this year, but there’s disagreement among EU countries. In 2019, the European Parliament voted in favour of abolishing seasonal time changes by a proposed date of 2021. After the 2019 agreement, Ireland and other member States were given 12 months to decide if they would stay on summertime or not. It was agreed to defer the ending here because of possible difficulties after the UK left the EU.
