Limerick schoolgirl to cut 18 inches of her hair for charity

Limerick Schoolgirl Cut 18 inches of hair to support Rapunzel Foundation

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up by Limerick woman Charlotte Keane and her daughter Grace who is undertaking a big feat in aid of Milford Hospice.

The schoolgirl has decided to cut her very long hair and donate 18 inches of it to the Rapunzel Foundation and raise funds for the Hospice in doing so.

The Rapunzel Foundation is a charity organization that works to improve the lives of those living with hair loss (alopecia) through fund raising as well as through hair raising.

Hair is raised through the Rapunzel Foundation’s Ponytail campaign, where people commit to growing their hair 14 inches or longer with the view to their hair being sent to help make much needed wigs to improve the lives of those living with the hair loss.

Milford Care Centre provides multiple service to the local community, these include Hospice at Home services, a Nursing Home, Day Care for both the Older Person and people with palliative care needs. In order to maintain services at levels capable of responding to the ever growing needs, there continues to be a  reliance on fundraising support to sustain the provision of this high quality of care.

Charlotte uses the GoFundMe page to write, “Milford hospice is very close to our hearts as they took care of my mother Aileen Kiely in her final days as well as other family members. They are a fantastic hospice and really do help the person in their care and show tremendous compassion for the family left behind.”
