New Gardaí to take up duty in Limerick

A NUMBER of new gardaí are bound for the streets of Limerick as part of the deployment of recruits who were sworn in last week.
26 new members of the force have been deployed to the Southern region, which covers Limerick, Cork and Kerry as part of a group of 122 new members who have graduated and attested nationwide.
There are also 235 Garda recruits currently in training and a new Garda Recruitment campaign will be launched in the coming weeks to further increase numbers.

27 per cent of the gardaí attested are female.

21 were born outside the State, including from Poland, Brazil, Ukraine and Lithuania, amongst other countries.
