Limerick council keeps maintenance agreements with Irish Rail

LIMERICK City and County Council have been asked for a list of structures and properties they do not own but have entered into agreements with owners to maintain upkeep.

The request came from Fianna Fáil councillor Catherine Slattery at this month’s Metropolitan District  council meeting when she was told that the local authority has entered into a number of maintenance agreements with Irish Rail.

From a roads perspective, the Council have entered agreements in respect of two bridges as well as a number of at-grade barrier crossings.

Road structures owned by Irish Rail that require Council maintenance include the overbridge rail crossing approaching Kilmallock Roundabout, the R509 Childers Road and R512 Kilmallock Road.

There is also an agreement in place to maintain a number of rail crossings and barriers.
