PBC didn’t have an easy semi final either as they had to overcome a stubborn Christian side that had them 19-7 down at the half. PBC scored two converted tries at the end of the game to make a miraculous 22-19 victory.

The Final clash got underway at 2:05pm and it was obvious Crescent would dominate the first half proceedings from the first whistle.

PBC had serious chance to score when their fly-half made an excellent line break from the half way line. He was closing towards the line but Crescent’s fullback made a wonderful last ditch tackle to save the team. Other than that chance it was pretty much a Crescent dominated first half.

With the wind on there side Crescent kept putting pressure on PBC by long and high kicking down the throat of PBC’s fullback. Two consecutive Knock-ons gave Crescent the opportunity to strike in there opponents half. From this Crescent managed to move the ball from left to right until they found space on the right hand side to run in over the line for the try. Crescent converted the kick and they were up 7-0.

Crescent College Comprehensive pushed on from this and found themselves in PBC’s half once again. It wasn’t long before they had PBC on their heels. Crescent’s fullback found the ball in his hands and with some excellent footwork. He broke the defensive line twice to get over the try-line for their second try of the game. Another converted kick put the score at 14-0 to Crescent.

The sides went into the half at 14-0 in Crescent’s favour

Crescent continued the start of the second-half like they ended the first. They continued the pressure they put on PBC with a brilliant stabbed kick into the corner. From the Lineout they stole the ball off a loose throw. From the resulting ruck a beautiful fizzed pass from left to right set up Crescent’s fly-half to just walk the ball over the line. The conversion was missed putting the score at 19-5

After some possession the PBC Fly-half put a beautiful kick into the Crescent corner. From the lineout PBC won back the ball, they pick and went from the ruck until the ball spilled loose. Lucky for PBC it fell to them and PBC darted over the line for their first try of the game. The score was now 19-5 as PBC couldn’t convert the kick.

PBC looked to push on from there try, but the school from Cork kept finding themselves being pinned back in their own half. An attempt by PBC to clear their lines went horribly wrong as Crescent’s No.6 charged down the clearance kick and ran the ball across the line. The score was now 26-5

Crescent from here on out comfortably saw out the game, PBC weren’t able to break a strong defensive line that Limerick’s Crescent had set up.

The Final whistle blew and Crescent College Comprehensive finished the game as the Munster Rugby Senior Cup Champions for 2022.
