WATCH | The Con and Annie Kirby Memorial Stake returns to the Limerick Greyhound Stadium this weekend

THE Con and Annie Kirby Memorial had it’s launch underway on Monday at the Greyhound stadium in Limerick.

This Saturday the 26th of March is the start of the five week event, The final event will be taking place on Friday the 22nd of April.

The Kirby Memorial seeks to be regarded as one of the major events of the Greyhound Racing season, Joining the likes of the Irish Laurels, Irish St. Leger, and the Irish Greyhound Derby.

The event will take place at the Limerick Racecourse over the next five weeks for the 9th successive year running.

This a huge event for Limerick GAA as each of the greyhound’s running at the track will be registered to a GAA, Handball, LGFA, or Camogie club.

The six finalist Clubs win a prize fund to share of 20,000 euro, the winning Greyhound is awarded a 10,000 euro prize and a benefit night at the Greyhound Stadium for their associated club.

The event has been sponsored by Noreen and JP McManus in name of her parents, Con and Annie Kirby. The competition boasts the biggest prize fund in Ireland after the Irish Greyhound Derby with a total prize fund of 160,000 euros.
