Two All-Ireland winners in U20 team to play Clare

LIMERICK meet Clare in the first round of the U20 Munster championship tonight.

Diarmuid Mullins has named his Limerick side to take on Clare in the first round of the Munster U20 Hurling Championship this evening in the TUS Gaelic Grounds at 7pm.

The side contains six players who started last year’s Munster final defeat to Cork.

Those include All-Ireland winners Colin Coughlan and Cathal O’Neill who will miss the Cork game should they feature for the seniors in their championship opener on April 17.

The same applies for fellow senior star Adam English who is named at wing forward for the clash.

Current capain Jimmy Quilty, Chris Thomas and Aidan O’Connor also retain their place from the 2021 provincial final while Ethan Hurley, Fergal O’Connor, Patrick Kirby and Eddie Stokes come into the XV after coming off the bench in Pairc Ui Chaoimh last year.

These sides met in the 2019 Munster minor final where Limerick were 1-17 to 1-11 winners.

Limerick take on Cork on Tuesday April 20 with the top two in the group advancing to the Munster semi-final.
