Tune in to Ireland’s Young Filmmaker Awards 2022 this Thursday

Ireland's Young Filmmaker of the Year Awards 2020 are giving young filmmakers a platform to shine as this year’s awards move online due to the current Covid-19 restrictions with Demi Isaac Oviawe star of RTEs ‘The Young Offenders’ hosting this year’s online awards. Films shortlisted for the final of Ireland's Young Filmmaker of the Year Awards were due be screened at Fresh International Film Festival 2020 in Limerick this past March but now because of the Coronavirus outbreak the awards are now taking place online with the Senior Finals taking place on Wednesday, March 13 at 7pm LIVE on Fresh Film Festival’s YouTube channel and the Junior Finals to follow one week later on at 4pm on Wednesday, March 20. THE 26TH annual Ireland’s Young Filmmaker Awards 2022 will air on RTÉ2, Thursday 14 April at 7pm. The awards were filmed in the Odeon, Castletroy. 

Presented by Fresh International Film Festival, the awards will celebrate the amazing work from young filmmakers, who will have the opportunity to have their work seen on the big screen for the first time.

The young filmmakers will also see if they will be the ones bringing home the top prize of Ireland’s Young Filmmaker of the year and a cash prize of €1,000.

Singer/songwriter and BBC Radio Presenter Gemma Bradley will be hosting the show alongside Dublin presenter, Stephen Byrne, whose past work included hosting RTÉ’s coverage of The Oscars Red Carpet live from Los Angeles.
