Council seeks progress on Askeaton sewerage scheme

Limerick City and County Council Director of Services Kieran Lehane

LIMERICK City and County Council has been trying to speed up progress on investment in a new sewerage plant in Askeaton.

Responding to a question from local Fianna Fáil councillor Kevin Sheahan at last week’s meeting of the local authority, Director of Service Kieran Lehane said the council has been in touch with the Department of Local Government in relation to ongoing issues at the waste-water treatment plant in the County Limerick town.

“Under the draft City and County Development Plan 2022-2028, Askeaton is targeted to increase its population by 28 per cent or an additional 119 households.

“The delivery of improved waste water infrastructure is critical to objectives of the draft plan,” Mr Lehane  explained.
