THE Lovely Eggs do not give up. Ever. The proudly independent UK psychedelic punk rock duo have now rescheduled the tour originally intended to promote the release in April 2020 of the โI Am Moronโ album, after countless attempts in the last two years.
The duo play Dolans this Saturday April 30 for Seoda Shows. Tickets www.dolans.ie
Special guest is The Hitchers – Niall Quinn solo playing songs from the band’s debut album It’s All Fun and Games ’til Someone Loses an Eye just released on vinyl for the first time.
These shows, now mostly sold-out, will be a long-awaited celebration of the critical and chart-topping success of โI Am Moronโ, and collaboration with Iggy Pop for the โI, Moronโ, released via their own label, Egg Records.
โBeing in The Lovely Eggs weโre kind of used to surreal experiences but collaborating with Iggy Pop takes the biscuit,โ exclaims Holly. โItโs actually unbelievable. For him just to say nothing but โmoronโ over and over again fitted in with the sentiment of the song perfectly. He just GOT it. We are all morons. In a world of moronic things. In a world of moronic ideas. You are moron. I am Moron. We are Moron.โ
The Lovely Eggs released Fried Egg, a limited edition (1500 copies) 10โ EP featuring rare songs and live recordings that were originally available as a CDR release back in 2007.
Says Holly,โThis Egg EP was the very first collection of songs we released in 2007. We couldnโt afford to press vinyl back then so we put together our own CD-Rs at home which we would then sell at gigs. It included new songs at the time and live recordings, and we put it together to look like a fried egg in old joke shop packaging. Over lockdown our mate Phil, who runs a vinyl cutting business in Brighton called 3.45RPM, surprised us with a copy of it on vinyl which emulated the CD-R original. We loved it so much we decided to get it pressed so our fans could have a copy too. And here it is. โ
โI am Moronโ was declared โAlbum of the Dayโ by BBC 6 Music and received critical acclaim from the national press. The Sunday Times called it โA Triumphโ, โ
