THE Treaty Talk duo were discussing the most valuable Limerick footballers.
Limerick are busy preparing for their Munster Senior Football Championship semi-final with Tipperary this Saturday evening in Thurles at 7pm.
It is a fourth successive semi-final for Billy Leeโs side as they look to bridge a gap to the last time they appeared in a provincial final, 2010.
Lee will need all of his key men if they are to get past Tipp in a repeat of the 2020 clash that went to extra-time.
Prior to the Munster quarter-final win over Clare on the Treaty Talk Podcast, Matt OโCallaghan and Jack Neville discussed the most valuable players currently in the Limerick set up.
Each agreed on the five key men at Leeโs disposal.
Starting with one of the penalty takers in Ennis, both were in agreement on 2020 All-Star nominee Iain Corbett with OโCallaghan saying
โHeโs the heart and the pulse of that Limerick team, heโs the man that makes them rethink, absolutely a fantastic player and has been so good for so long.โ
Matt OโCallaghan
They both agreed on the importance of his clubmate Cian Sheehan to the squad as Neville said,
โHeโs all action, doesnโt neglect his defensive duties but at the same time offers so much going forward, as an athlete second to none.โ
Jack Neville
Current team captain Donal OโSullivan was the next to be chosen with the Monaleen man not only integral to the current side but also one of the longest serving members of the squad having represented Limerick for over a decade.
โHeโs been so long there between the sticks and his appetite for it hasnโt waned one iota , heโs leadership qualities plus his down right basic goalkeeping skills, it takes a special shot to beat him.โ
Matt OโCallaghan
After imping off against Louth early on in the League final defeat to Louth, both were in agreement in selecting Cillian Fahy who has shown his versatility since moving to midfield after a very successful stint at centre-forward.
Fahy, who started off in defence, was to the fore in the Clare victory with his powerful running key to the current side.
โVery hard to stop, and was definitely definitely missed against Louth, and I think thatโs a big compliment to players that are absent.โ
Cillian Fahy
Finally, both selected Adareโs Hugh Bourke, with the inside forward offering both a scoring threat but also a creative spark that has seen him pick up three SFC titles in five years.
โAccuracy and intelligence. I donโt know is there anyone as intelligent as Hugh Bourke in Limerick football, personally I donโt think so. Heโs probably not really an inside forward but heโs scoring three or four points a game from inside there.
If he came out to eleven heโd set up as much if not more, brilliant footballer.โ
Jack Neville
