After a great league campaign, Limerick footballers’ season ended with a tough loss to Cork.
Cork have now ended Limerickโs All-Ireland hopes for a second year running with a 2-18 to 1-16 win in the second round of the qualifiers in Pairc Ui Chaoimh yesterday.
Limerickโs downfall came in the third quarter of the match with the Treaty men down to 14 following a black card.
Cork took full advantage and scored 1-3 in quick succession without reply from Leeโs men.
Limerick did hit back with a goal from Brian Donovan as Corkโs Paul Walsh was sent off. Adrian Enright then fired a point over on the 61st minute to make it a two score game.
But a late penalty sealed Limerickโs fate as Brian Hurley made no mistake and fired home.
