After a great league campaign, Limerick footballers’ season ended with a tough loss to Cork.

Cork have now ended Limerick’s All-Ireland hopes for a second year running with a 2-18 to 1-16 win in the second round of the qualifiers in Pairc Ui Chaoimh yesterday.

Cork took full advantage and scored 1-3 in quick succession without reply from Lee’s men.

Limerick did hit back with a goal from Brian Donovan as Cork’s Paul Walsh was sent off. Adrian Enright then fired a point over on the 61st minute to make it a two score game.

But a late penalty sealed Limerick’s fate as Brian Hurley made no mistake and fired home.
