Limerick students may not get exam results until late August

NAPD give tips to avoid Leaving Cert anxiety. limerick post news

STUDENTS who are currently sitting their Leaving Certificate exams could be waiting until the end of August for their results.

One of the major factors affecting this decision is the low number of examiners and the additional time needed to mark the exams in a way that ensures that grades will not be lower than last year.

The delay in the release of the results could lead to a knock-on delay in first years starting college next September and will also impact those looking for accommodation.

The State Examinations Commission (SEC) has yet to announce a date for the results to be released, but early indications are that it could be in late August.

The Leaving Cert exams are due conclude on June 28.
