LIMERICK City and County Council has yet to identify a site for a new cemetery to serve the Castletroy area.

In response to a question from Limerick City East Labour Party councillor Elena Secas at the June Metropolitan District meeting, Director of Service Nuala Gallagher said that the Council is looking at possible options but no site has been finalised.

In the meantime, the Council are progressing Columbarian Walls for Kilmurray cemetery and it is expected to go to tender in August of this year.

“We will continue to explore all avenues to identify a suitable site for a burial ground in the Castletroy area,” Ms Gallagher commented.
