Limerick Community Law Centre marks tenth anniversary

Sinead Kerin, manager of the Limerick Community Law and Mediation Centre.

COMMUNITY Law and Mediation (CLM), an independent community law centre based on Henry Street in Limerick City, celebrates its tenth anniversary this month.

The only community law centre outside of Dublin, CLM Limerick was established in 2012 to address significant unmet legal need, primarily within the areas identified for redevelopment under the Limerick Regeneration Programme (the communities of Moyross, Southill, St Mary’s Park and Ballinacurra Weston).

Limerick centre manager Sinead Kerin said that its primary purpose was to provide people  with expert legal, mediation, and education services they would not otherwise have access to and in doing so, to address underlying issues of injustice and exclusion while working for real change.

Chief Justice Donal O’Donnell will be the keynote speaker at the celebratory event on Wednesday September 21 to highlight the vital role that community law centres play in empowering people to have their voice heard, exercise their rights and challenge discrimination.
