Search continues for missing Limerick man

Donal Kennedy from Caherdavin who went missing in Ballybunion.

GARDAÍ are continuing to appeal for information about a Limerick City man who went missing in Ballybunion last Saturday night.

33 year-old Donal Kennedy from Caherdavin was on a night out with a group of friends attending Listowel Races when he disappeared.

Timmy Lynch, who was one of the group with Mr Kennedy on Saturday night, told Radio Kerry that his disappearance was completely out of character.

He said that Mr Kennedy has epilepsy and may have hit his head in a fall while making his way back to the apartment where he was staying.

“Donal is one of the happiest guys you could meet. He has a girlfriend and a three-year-old child,” he said.

“He is an absolute gent, one of the nicest guys you could meet. He was just back from a holiday.”

He bought a bag of chips on Saturday night and was last spotted on CCTV passing by McMunn’s pub in Ballybunion on his way back to the apartment at around 11.30pm.

His friends believe he may have taken a wrong turn and went on a slipway which leads to the beach. However, as the tide was out at that time, they think it unlikely that he walked into the sea.

Mr Kennedy is described as being approximately 6ft tall, with a slim build, dark brown hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a long-sleeved white top when he was last seen

Anyone with information about his whereabouts should contact Ballybunion Garda Station on 068 27104, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
