Drugs destined for Limerick seized at airport

Herbal cannabis seized at Shannon Airport this afternoon.

DRUGS with an estimated street value of โ‚ฌ40,000, that were destined for an address in Limerick City, were seized by Revenue officers at Shannon Airport this afternoon.
The drugs, herbal cannabis, were recovered as part of a routine operation by Revenue.
Approximately 2kgs of the drug was seized after being discovered in a parcel that originated from Italy and destined for Limerick City.
โ€œInvestigations are ongoing.โ€จ ย This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the importation of illegal drugs,โ€ said a Revenue spokesman.
โ€œIf businesses or members of the public have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on Confidential Phone Number 1800 295 295,โ€ he added.
