Limerick Gardaí stress benefits of 999 service

Limerick Garda Crime Prevention Officer Sgt Ber Leetch

IF YOU are a victim or a witness to a crime, your prospects of a speedy response are considerably better if you dial 999.

That’s according to Limerick Gardaí who say that the 999 service ensures priority attention and the call going straight through without delay or diversion.

“The Garda operator will know where the closest patrol car is and direct them to the call,” Limerick Garda Crime Prevention Officer Sgt Ber Leetch explained.

“As a witness it is very important that you stay safe while gathering as many details as possible, including the registration number of any vehicle

Sgt Leetch issued the advice after a woman witnessed a man smash her neighbour’s car window.

“She saw him get into the car and search it. He then went to another car in the driveway that was not locked and searched that too.

“The neighbour rang Gardaí and she was able to provide a very helpful description of the man and the car he left the scene in,” Sgt Leetch said.
