CASTLECONNELL Post Office will reopen next Monday, February 20, at the local Supervalu store which is undergoing an extensive fit-out to accommodate the new service.

Local Fine Gael TD and Minister of State Kieran O’Donnell said that newly appointed postmaster Peter Cunningham, who is also proprietor of Supervalu Castleconnell, has confirmed that the work will be completed in time for the reopening.

“This is great news for Castleconnell and the surrounding areas, providing great relief and certainty that the post office is set to re-open at its new premises and the future of this vital post office service in the village is firmly secured,” Minister O’Donnell explained.

“Since the existing Castleconnell Post Office unexpectedly closed last October, I have worked with local Fine Gael Councillor Michael Murphy and the local community to secure the future of the post office service in the area.

“Its closure caused a great degree of worry for local people and businesses who had been accessing services at either Newport or Castletroy post offices.
