Unfinished Limerick building is an embarrassing site

AN unfinished and derelict building  on the corner of Ellen Street and Carr Street in Limerick City has been described as “an embarrassment”.

The description was applied by Fine Gael councillor Daniel Butler during last week’s monthly Metropolitan district meeting when he asked what action would be taken against the owner by Limerick City and County Council.

The former Mayor added that the site should not be allowed to remain as it is.

He was told by Council Director of Services Gordon Daly that the unfinished building site was on the Derelict Site Register and the Vacant Site Register.

“Limerick City and County Council have exercised their full powers under the Derelict Site Act and has made an application to An Bord Pleanála to compulsory acquire this property,” Mr Daly explained.
