Willie welcomes Collins’ planning row statement

FIANNA Fáil TD Willie O’Dea has welcomed last week’s Dáil statement by Minister of State Niall Collins in the wake of the controversy around a 2001 planning application for his family home in Patrickswell.

Minister Collins’ explanation last week stated that he wished to move to the Patrickswell area to “move closer to my parents … to help them and to support them in any way I could”.

When asked for comment earlier this week, Deputy O’Dea said: “I welcome the Dáil statement by Niall Collins as he appears to have dealt with the matter by clarifying that he was compliant in his planning application and therefore he has brought finality to the issue.”
