Limerick City councillors to be briefed on active travel schemes

Senior Council Engineer Sean McGlynn

THE DETAILED design of the Father Russell Road active travel scheme is “progressing” but the South Circular Road scheme is still in the very early stages.

That was the response to a question asked by City West representative Cllr Elisa O’Donovan at last week’s Metropolitan District council meeting.

The Social Democrats councillor had requested timelines for when work would commence on the Fr Russell Road and South Circular Road Active Travel Schemes. She also wanted to know when detailed designs will be brought to councillors for feedback.

Senior Council Engineer Sean McGlynn said that the Active Travel unit will brief councillors on the Fr Russell Road scheme this month.

“Detail design on the South Circular Road scheme is in the very early stages and a date for briefing will be put forward when the design has progressed,” he explained.
