Competitive semi-finals in store for the Con and Annie Kirby Memorial Stake

ONLY a dozen runners remain in the valuable (€80,000 to-the-winner) Con and Annie Kirby Memorial Stake at Limerick, the semi-finals of which will be at held at Greenpark on Saturday (7.40pm onwards).

In the quarter-finals, favourite and joint track record holder Clona Duke exited.

The most impressive winner at the weekend was Terezas Mendoza. She clocked 28.07 for trainer Pat Buckley of Doon, who has won this juvenile classic on three previous occasions.

This coming Tuesday in Limerick (7pm), entry is free into the popular Talking Dogs Roadshow, featuring pundits Ian Fortune, Tommy Lyons, and Jim Cremin, which will preview the following Friday night’s €160,000 Kirby Final.

Meanwhile, last year’s Kirby champion Swords Rex – from the kennels of Graham Holland in Clonmel, Tipperary – captured the €45,000 Easter Cup at Shelbourne Park.
