Limerick business owners warned of counterfeit cash

BUSINESSES owners in Limerick have been warned to keep their eyes open after reports of forged currency were made in two separate incidents the county.

Two business owners in Kilmallock reported cases of individuals attempting to pay using counterfeit money, with €50 notes reported by Gardaí as being used on both occasions.

Luckily they realised that the money was fake and wouldn’t accept it as a form of payment, so no losses were incurred.

“It is important to caution all businesses that forged €50 notes are in circulation now and to take extra precautions,” warned Sergeant Ber Leetch, Crime Prevention Officer at Henry Street Garda Station.

Businesses should report instances of counterfeit currency by contacting Henry Street Garda Station on 061 212 400.
