Limerick brass band strikes silver at national championships

A LIMERICK City band struck a winning note last weekend when they were named Ireland’s second best band at the National Band Championships.

The Boherbuoy Brass and Reed band took home the silver perpetual trophy in the Advanced category at the championships which were held in Athlone’s Dean Crowe Theatre,

The Boherbuoy Band is one of the country’s oldest ensembles, having been established back in 1850. Under the conductorship of Dr Andrew Jordan, the brass and reed band scored 193 out of 200 with their rendition of Otto M Schwarz’s ‘Around the World in 80 Days’.
