LIMERICK has recorded the third highest number of road deaths nationwide so far this year, according to figures published by the Road Safety Authority (RSA).

The RSA statistics show that four out of the 45 road deaths that occurred between January 1 and March 31 in Ireland took place across Limerick city and county.

This places the county third in the national listings, behind Mayo (8) and Galway (7). Neighbouring Cork, Kerry, and Clare each recorded two road deaths.

The RSA have said that national figures have increased on the same period last year, in which 12 fewer road deaths were recorded.
