ON THE back of some outstanding results, including last night’s 2-1 defeat of Athlone Town at a well populated Markets Field, Treaty United are within touching distance of a play-off berth in the SSE Airtricity First Division.

This latest win was a third on the trot for Tommy Barrett’s young guns.

Treaty came from behind to land all points, with goals (coming quick-fire style within a few minutes of each other) from Lee Devitt and Marc Ludden, who was introduced in the closing stages. The latter quickly tweeted: “I enjoyed that one tonight, great to be back on the pitch. It’s a huge win for us.”

Added Conor Barry: “Great to see you (Marc) back. Great character shown by all in that second-half. Fans brilliant again!”

Tweeted Enda Curran: “Great character to come back and pick up the three points. No place like Markets Field when it’s bouncing like tonight!”

“Fans were really the 12th man in the second-half,” commented fans’ favourite Dean George.

Treaty’s Devitt was declared Player-of-the-Match, just squeezing out Darren Nwankwo in the public vote.

Sterling work by grounds staff and volunteers ensured the Garryowen pitch was playable, following some heavy downfalls of rain earlier in the day.

Treaty are at Bishopsgate to meet eight-placed Longford Town next Saturday. Following that tricky assignment, there are back-to-back home fixtures against leaders Galway United and Finn Harps.
