Leo replicates Limerick success with Offaly

Offaly under-20 hurling manager Leo O'Connor.

LEO O’CONNOR masterminded Offaly’s stunning 1-21 to 0-22 win over Wexford in the Leinster Under-20 Hurling Final in front of a capacity 10,000 supporters at Dr. Cullen Park, Carlow last night.

Twelve years ago, he guided Limerick to Munster glory at this grade.

The Claughaun man, who represented his county at all grades and was a key strategist in the development of the much-hailed Limerick Academy, has been involved as manager with both minor and under-20 grade with the midlanders for the last few seasons.

Last year, his minor team suffered All-Ireland Final heartbreak to Tipperary, with a late goal denying his charges a fairytale success.

Many of those players have since stepped up a grade and will relish an opportunity to tackle Cork in the All-Ireland Final in a few weeks’ time.

Cork are managed by county legend Ben O’Connor, a Garda based in Bruff.
