BREAKING: Search and rescue operation underway in Killaloe after jet ski incident

A MAJOR search and rescue operation was launched this evening in Killaloe, County Clare, following reports of an incident involving three people and a jet ski.

The Coast Guard was tasked to the scene, along with the rescue helicopter, paramedics, Clare Fire and Rescue Service, and the Garda Dive Unit. 

The bridge between Killaloe and Ballina was sealed off while rescue services searched the water. 

The rescue helicopter was seen in the skies hovering low over the lake for almost two hours after reports came in of the accident at around 5.30pm. 

By 7.30pm, it is understood from reports at the scene, two young women had been rescued and a search and recovery operation was underway for a young man.
