UPDATE: Body of Limerick man recovered following search and rescue operation in Killaloe

A BODY has been recovered following an extensive search by emergency services at the lakeside in Killaloe, County Clare. 

It was confirmed that search and rescue teams recovered the body of a young man from Limerick around 7.30pm this evening. The body of the young man has been brought to University Hospital Limerick for post mortem, according to emergency sources. 

This follows reports at 5.30pm this evening of an accident involving a jet ski on the lakeside.

The Coast Guard was tasked to the scene, along with the rescue helicopter, paramedics, Clare Fire and Rescue Service, and the Garda Dive Unit. 

The bridge between Killaloe and Ballina was sealed off while rescue services searched the water.

The rescue helicopter was seen in the skies hovering low over the lake for almost two hours after reports came in of the accident at around 5.30pm. 

By 7.30pm, it is understood from reports at the scene, two young women had been rescued and the body of the young man was recovered.
