Atlantia’s Limerick Vitamin B2 Study

Atlantia Clinical Trials are currently looking for older adults between the ages of 50-70 years  and a BMI of 18.5 to 30.0 to take part in a research study. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of a Vitamin B2 supplement on the gut in healthy adults.

Recent research has revealed that the ingestion of vitamins has been shown to regulate the bacteria in the gut (gut microbiome). This regulation is essential, as evidence has shown that an imbalance of such bacteria has been linked to diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and autoimmune diseases. The research suggests that vitamins could offer health benefits beyond those traditionally known for these nutrients. For example, Vitamins B2, D, and C have been shown to regulate gut bacteria.

The aim of this research is to examine if the Vitamin B2 supplement that is released in the colon can allow for the regulation of gut microbiota and have a safe and tolerable effect on the body. Over a 3.5 month period, successful participants will take the B2 supplement or placebo product daily and visit Atlantia’s Limerick clinic in the National Technology Park, Plassey, 3 times, each visit lasting approximately 1hr 30mins.

Each participant will receive €450 upon completion of the study in return for their time and any expenses.
