Council questioned on flooding issues in new housing estate

LIMERICK City and County Council faced questions as to why a new housing development was experiencing flooding issues.

Fianna Fáil councillor Catherine Slattery asked at a recent Metropolitan District meeting why the new development at Woodlawn Park — Woodlawn Close — are experiencing flooding issues.

She also asked about what measures are being taken by the Council to rectify this issue.

Director of Housing Caroline Curley said that, on inspection, there had been no flooding damage to the two properties, although there was some evidence that some localised flooding had occurred in the gardens of both properties in the aftermath of very heavy rain.

“The Housing Maintenance section are liaising with the Roads Department with regards the drainage in the area,” she added.
