Man arrested and charged over road death of Clare pensioner

A MAN has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal road crash that took place in County Clare yesterday morning.

At around 10.30am yesterday morning (Thursday July 27) a motorcyclist, described as being in his 70s, was killed in a road crash involving his motorcycle and a car.

The incident occurred on the N67 at Ballyvaughan, County Clare, according to a statement issued by An Garda Síochána this morning, in which the elderly man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí reported no other injuries resulting from the fatal crash.

Following the incident, a man in his 40s was arrested and detained at a Garda Station in County Clare. He has since been charged and is due to appear before Ennis District Court this morning (Friday July 28).

Gardaí in the area are appealing to any motorists who were travelling the N67 at Ballyvaughan between 10am and 10.45am yesterday morning who may have dashcam or information which may be of use to come forward.
