Mayor for Limerick City and County councillor Gerald Mitchell said that the games area is to be welcomed.

“This is another project delivered by Limerick City & County Council to enhance local community facilities. It is really important for young people to have a free and safe space for a kickabout. This is a great initiative and one that we all, I’m sure, welcome for the area,” he said.

Chairperson of the St. Mary’s Park Regeneration Committee, Helen Flanagan said – “I am delighted that funding for this project has been allocated to the community of St Marys Park and the wider Kings Island community. In addition to the existing playground this project will provide an amenity for older children and young people to play in.”
