Limerick footballer named captain of EFL League One team Lincoln City

LIMERICK’S Paudie O’Connor (Clarina) is EFL League One Lincoln City captain for 2023/2024.

But despite taking the armband, the recently turned 26-year-old believes there are a number of senior figures amongst the squad who will share responsibility.

He told the club’s website: “You maybe have more responsibility off the pitch now compared to just leading on it, but there are a number of lads like Adam Jackson or Ted Bishop who are senior and will take on those roles of responsibility around the place too.

“It’s not a one man band in that sense, there is definitely a leadership group who will set positive examples.”

Lincoln have their opening home game of the season when Wycombe Wanderers to their 10,700 capacity Sincil Bank on Saturday.

Meanwhile in the League of Ireland First Division, Treaty United – who suffered Bank Holiday weekend losses to Longford Town (home) and Galway United (away) – were on the road to Ballybofey (Donegal) to face Finn Harps on Friday (August 11).
