RENTERS in Limerick are paying far more than there were seven years ago.

That’s according to data from the 2022 census, which found that the average weekly rent paid to private landlords across Limerick in April 2022 was €221 – or €11,491 per year.

This marks a significant 46 per cent increase on figures reflected in the 2016 census.

Nationally, the average weekly rent paid to private landlords, according to the 2022 census, was €271 (or €14,196 per year).
